Terms of use

Version 1.0, updated on October 10, 2026

These terms of use govern the use of the Oenopia website and apps. The paid subscription is also governed by the terms of sale.

The service

Oenopia is a service for learning about wine: courses, games, tasting practice and an encyclopedia of grapes, regions and classifications. The publisher is named in the legal notice.

Part of the content is open without an account. A free account keeps your progress. The subscription opens all the content, under the terms of sale.

Legal drinking age

Oenopia is intended for people of legal drinking age in their country of residence (18 in France). Creating an account and taking out a subscription require you to confirm it.

If the publisher learns that an account belongs to someone under that age, it may delete the account.

Your account

You create an account with an email address and a password, or with your Google or Apple account. You keep your password confidential and you are responsible for what is done from your account.

You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deletion erases the data tied to the account, as the privacy policy describes. A subscription taken in an app must also be cancelled with Apple or Google.

Strictly informative content

Oenopia is informative and educational: it describes grape varieties, regions, appellations, classifications and tasting. It does not encourage drinking alcohol.

  • Oenopia sells no alcoholic drinks and shows no wine prices.
  • Oenopia carries no advertising and no sponsored content.
  • Estates and appellations are mentioned for their educational interest, never to promote them.

These principles follow the rules set in France for advertising alcoholic drinks (articles L. 3323-2 and following of the French Public Health Code).

The content is written and reviewed with care, but a mistake remains possible. You can report it to published here when the service opens.

Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health; drink in moderation.

Leaderboards, nicknames and friends

Leaderboards show your nickname or, if you have not chosen one, a player number, never your email address. From your profile, you can stay off the leaderboards and choose not to be findable by other players.

Your nickname must not mislead about who you are, be offensive or infringe anyone's rights. The publisher may remove a nickname that breaks these rules.

Your feedback

The feedback you send from Oenopia is used to improve it. It is not published and only the publisher reads it.

Fair use

You agree not to rig scores or leaderboards, not to copy the content in bulk by automated means, not to disrupt the service and not to use it for unlawful purposes. If you do, the publisher may suspend or delete the account concerned.

Intellectual property

Oenopia's content is protected. You may use it for your own learning; any other copying or distribution requires the publisher's written consent.

Availability and liability

The publisher does what is reasonably possible to keep the service available, but cannot guarantee that it runs without interruption or error. It may interrupt the service to maintain or improve it.

Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under the law, in particular as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

The publisher may change these terms. The version in force and its date appear on this page. You are told about any significant change on the website or by email before it applies.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence.

If something goes wrong, write first to published here when the service opens. The consumer mediation described in the terms of sale is also open to you.
