Château Cos d'Estournel
A second growth of 1855 in Saint-Estèphe, Cos d'Estournel stands on the gravel rise overlooking the Pauillac boundary, facing Lafite. Its orientalising pagoda-topped cellars, built by Louis-Gaspard d'Estournel whose wines went out to the Indies, make it the Médoc's most singular building; 'cos' is the Gascon word for the hill of stones.
