Château Coutet

Barsac

A first growth of 1855 in Barsac, Coutet is one of the commune's two first growths together with Climens, its immediate neighbour. Its name is said to come from the Gascon for knife, in allusion to the cut of its wines, and in exceptional years only it makes a rare old-vine Sémillon bottling, the Cuvée Madame.
