Château
Château Pouget
A fourth growth of 1855 in the Margaux appellation, in the commune of Cantenac, Pouget is one of the most discreet classified growths of the Médoc, very small and long run together with its neighbour Boyd-Cantenac, with which it shares both history and cellars. The two were nonetheless classified separately and at different ranks — third growth for Boyd-Cantenac, fourth for Pouget — a reminder that the brokers of 1855 were ranking selling prices attached to a name, not vineyards. The wine is a Médoc blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and filled out with Merlot, in the perfumed, fine-tannined style of the appellation.
