Château
Château Rauzan-Gassies
A second growth of 1855 in the Margaux appellation, in the commune of Margaux, Rauzan-Gassies is the other half of the Rauzan estate, split from Rauzan-Ségla before the classification was drawn up; the two growths were therefore classified at the same rank out of one original vineyard. That equality owes nothing to inheritance: the brokers were transcribing selling prices, and at the time the two halves stood at the same level. Its wine is a Médoc blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon and filled out with Merlot, in the perfumed, fine-tannined style of the appellation.
