Château
Château Lamothe
A second growth of 1855 in Sauternes, in the commune of Sauternes itself, Lamothe is one of the two parts of the Lamothe estate, classified undivided in 1855 and then divided; this share is also known as Lamothe-Despujols, after the family that farms it. The other share, Lamothe-Guignard, carries the same second-growth rank, inherited from the original estate. The wine is a sweet white from Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, picked in successive passes through botrytised fruit.
