Château
Château de Rayne Vigneau
A first growth of 1855 in Sauternes, in the commune of Bommes, Rayne Vigneau occupies a gravel rise famous for the semi-precious stones gathered from its soils in the nineteenth century — agates, jaspers, cornelians — a collection of which was exhibited in Paris. That gravel sets it apart from the neighbouring Barsac growths, which sit on flatter limestone soils. The wine is a sweet white from Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, picked in successive passes through botrytised fruit, as with every classified growth of the appellation.
