Château
Château Suau
A second growth of 1855 in Barsac, Suau is one of the most obscure classified growths of Sauternes: its small vineyard was for a long time made outside the commune and its name is little seen on the market. Like the other Barsac growths it gives a sweet white from Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle picked in successive passes, in the brighter, less opulent style that local usage puts down to the commune's limestone soils. Its rank is a reminder of what the 1855 classification is: a transcript of nineteenth-century selling prices, not a tasting judgement renewed since.
