Château
Château Lynch-Bages
A fifth growth of 1855 in Pauillac, Lynch-Bages occupies the Bages plateau south of the village and bears the name of Thomas Lynch, son of an Irish émigré, who acquired the estate by marriage in 1749; it was his son, Jean-Baptiste Lynch, mayor of Bordeaux from 1809 to 1815, who made the name famous. Its broad, immediately recognisable wines make it another classic case of a growth whose standing has long outrun its 1855 rank.
