Château Romer

Sauternes

A second growth of 1855 in Sauternes, in the commune of Fargues, Romer is the smaller of the two parts of the original estate, which the brokers classified while it was still undivided. The twentieth-century split produced two separate growths, Romer and Romer du Hayot, each carrying the second-growth rank inherited from the estate. Like the rest of Sauternes, Romer makes a sweet white from Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, picked in successive passes through botrytised fruit; it is one of the appellation's rarest classified growths, and was long absent from the market.
