"Alsace grand cru Florimont" is one of the fifty-one "Alsace grand cru" appellations, in the communes of Ingersheim and Katzenthal (Haut-Rhin), recognised in 1992. Set on an outlying knoll of the sub-Vosges hills, the site enjoys a warm, dry mesoclimate favourable to early ripening; the bedrock — Bathonian and Bajocian limestone overlain lower down the slope by Oligocene conglomerate and marl — yields stony marl-limestone soils.
