"Alsace grand cru Sonnenglanz" is one of the fifty-one "Alsace grand cru" appellations, in the commune of Beblenheim (Haut-Rhin), recognised in 1983. Projecting into the plain on a limestone promontory of Oligocene marl over pebbles, this early-ripening, rather dry site has a fairly heavy, deep brown limestone soil that warms slowly while holding water well.
