"Alsace grand cru Steinklotz" is one of the fifty-one "Alsace grand cru" appellations, in the commune of Marlenheim (Bas-Rhin), recognised in 1992. The bedrock of shelly Muschelkalk limestone and dolomitic Keuper, over a stony subsoil, gives the soils a good permeability that favours heat accumulation.
