"Alsace grand cru Zotzenberg" is one of the fifty-one "Alsace grand cru" appellations, in the commune of Mittelbergheim (Bas-Rhin), recognised in 1992. On the south/south-east slope of a sub-Vosges hill, Zotzenberg's strength lies in its geology of very dense marl over limestone bedrock, well drained with a balanced water supply; alone among the fifty-one grands crus, it admits Sylvaner alongside Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris and Riesling.
