A regional Burgundy appellation for still white wines made from the Aligoté grape alone, recognised by decree on 31 July 1937. Its geographical area covers nearly 300 communes in the Yonne, Côte-d'Or and Saône-et-Loire. The specification describes wines with a distinctly green-tinged colour and tangy notes, mostly for drinking young, though those from hillside plots with low yields can age. It is not the same as the Bourgogne appellation, whose grape list does not include Aligoté.
