"Alsace grand cru Vorbourg" is one of the fifty-one "Alsace grand cru" appellations, in the communes of Rouffach and Westhalten (Haut-Rhin), recognised in 1992. At the foot of the Grand Ballon and the Petit Ballon, on marl-limestone soils with Bajocian oolitic limestone and Oligocene conglomerate, a warm, dry foehn wind reinforces an already high ripeness; Vorbourg is, with Hengst and Kirchberg de Barr, one of three grands crus that allow a red Pinot Noir wine, recognised here in 2024.
