"Alsace grand cru Furstentum" is one of the fifty-one "Alsace grand cru" appellations, in the commune of Kaysersberg Vignoble (Haut-Rhin), recognised in 1992. Its amphitheatre shape shelters it from the wind; the marl-limestone-sandstone soils store heat, creating a mesoclimate the cahier des charges calls Mediterranean.
